Barto and Tenielle Yelkouni - Burkina Faso, West Africa

Barto and Tenielle

Barto and Tenielle Yelkouni In the fall of 2009, Tenielle (Nebraska native) started serving at a mission in Tijuana, Mexico and after 2.5 years of volunteering at the orphanage she became the assistant administrator and director of communication of the whole mission.

In 2011, she had the opportunity to leave Mexico for a time and fulfill her dream of going to Africa. She was sent to Burkina Faso, West Africa and it was there in her first month that she met Barto Yelkouni. They instantly became friends and after she left Burkina, they kept in touch always. Tenielle went back to Mexico and served for the next year but still had a longing for Africa so returned a year later for 8 months.

In that time, Barto and Tenielle's friendship grew tremendously and they prayed for the Lord to guide the ways for their lives. After praying for many months, they felt it was the Lords will for them to marry and do missions together. In September 2015 they were married in Tenielle's home church in Nebraska and then left for the mission in Mexico a month later.

They served in Mexico together for almost a year and really felt the Lord leading them to start their own mission. So, now they are on their way back to Burkina Faso, to work in the home village of Barto. Their plans are to move to Burkina in 2018 and open their own school, clinic and children's home to help reach the people of that area for Christ. They also have a beautiful baby girl named Briella.
